Vick re-signs endorsement deal at Nike

Michael Vick has played his way back onto the field full-time, and now appears to be back in the good graces of at least one former sponsor.

The Eagles quarterback has re-signed an endorsement deal with Nike, four years after the company dropped him in the midst of a dogfighting scandal that landed him behind bars.

“Michael acknowledges his past mistakes,” Nike spokeswoman Megan Saalfeld said in an emailed statement. “We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”

Vick was franchised by the Eagles after he passed for 3,018 yards and 21 touchdowns while leading them to the NFC East title. It was his first season as an NFL starter since 2006, before he pleaded guilty to felony charges.

Since the Eagles took a chance by signing Vick before the 2009 season, he has been an active spokesperson against the criminal activities that landed him in prison.
