Red Sox put Jenks on DL by The Sports Network

The Boston Red Sox placed pitcher Bobby Jenks on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday due to tightness on the left side of his back.

Jenks started the seventh inning of Tuesday’s game against the Yankees, but he left after just four pitches due to back tightness.

The right-hander, who is in his first season with Boston after spending the previous six with the White Sox, also spent time on the disabled list earlier in the season with a right biceps injury.

Jenks has made 15 appearances this season and has recorded a 2-2 record with a 6.57 ERA in 12 1/3 innings.

The Red Sox recalled Luis Exposito from Triple-A Pawtucket to fill the roster spot.
