Penguins sign F Johnson to one-year deal by The Sports Network

The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Nick Johnson to a one-year, two-way contract on Saturday.

The 25-year-old played in four games for the Penguins last season and had a goal and two assists. He suffered a concussion that kept him off the team for the final 23 regular season games and the playoffs.

A third-round pick of the Penguins in the 2004 draft, he has totaled two goals and three assists in 10 games over two seasons with the big club.

In the AHL, he has 50 goals and 44 assists along with a plus-46 rating in 169 games.
