Murray State extends basketball coach Kennedy by The Sports Network

Murray State has extended the contract of head men’s basketball coach Billy Kennedy through the 2014-15 season.

The one-year extension comes two months after the conclusion of another successful season. The Racers went 23-9 and won their second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title.

In 2009-10, they went 31-5 and beat Vanderbilt in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

“I’m excited once again to know that we are keeping coach Kennedy in Murray,” said athletics director Allen Ward. “Coming off back-to-back OVC championships and a remarkable 54 wins the past two seasons, the future of Racers basketball remains bright under his stable leadership.”

Murray State has posted a 107-53 record since Kennedy took over the position in 2006.
