Giants 2B Sanchez suffers dislocated shoulder by The Sports Network

San Francisco Giants second baseman Freddy Sanchez dislocated his right shoulder diving for a ball in the fifth inning of Friday’s game against the Reds.

Brandon Phillips led off the fifth with a dribbler up the middle, and Sanchez ranged to his right and made a diving stop.

But as he tried to cushion his fall, his throwing arm came down awkwardly and his shoulder popped out. He stayed on the ground in pain as Phillips reached base safely and was immediately replaced.

“We feel horrible for Freddy, but we’ll keep fighting,” said Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who said Sanchez will have an MRI on Saturday to determine how much time he will miss.

Sanchez came into the game batting .287 with three home runs and 24 RBI.
