Cardinals recall Lynn, release Batista by The Sports Network

 The St. Louis Cardinals recalled pitcher Lance Lynn from Triple-A Memphis and gave pitcher Miguel Batista his unconditional release on Wednesday.

Lynn made his major league debut earlier in the year with the Cardinals, posting a 1-1 record and a 5.23 ERA in two starts.

He will be available from the bullpen in Wednesday’s contest against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Batista, a 17-year veteran, was signed as a free agent in January and had a 3-2 record with a 4.60 ERA in 26 appearances — one start — for St. Louis.
