Blues reward D Nikitin with 1-year extension by The Sports Network

The St. Louis Blues re-signed defenseman Nikita Nikitin to a one-year contract extension, the club announced Thursday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 24-year-old made his National Hockey League debut in early November and tallied one goal and eight assists in 41 contests in the 2010-11 campaign.

A native of Russia, Nikitin was selected in the fifth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by St. Louis.
