NBA players file unfair labor charge by The Sports Network
The National Basketball Association players’ association has filed an unfair labor charge against the league with the National Labor Relations Board on Tuesday.
The NBA and players are trying to avoid a lockout, as the current collective bargaining agreement expires on June 30.
The union is accusing the owners of negotiating in unfair labor practices throughout the collective bargaining process and seeks “an injunction against the NBA’s unlawful bargaining practices and its unlawful lockout threat.”
The NBA has yet to comment on the filing.
One of the more stable pro sports leagues in existence, the NBA has not had a labor dispute interrupt play since the start of the 1998-99 season was pushed back from November until early February due to a lockout.
